Woodland Workshop - Coppicing

Woodland Workshop - Coppicing

Sunday 31st March, 2019
09:00-17:00

Are you a woodland owner? Volunteer? Someone looking to get into coppice work? Or simply interested in sustainable woodland management? Learn the ancient art of coppicing with Emily Ashton-Hughes with this one day introductory workshop.

Not only will we get a chance to discuss woodland management methods, biodiversity, tree ID and tool usage, we will also be outside coppicing trees using hand tools, processing trees and discovering what materials are on offer, such as pea sticks, stakes and binders. This workshop will help to instil a methodical working practice that benefits both you and the woodland.

This introductory course will leave you feeling more confident about getting to work in the woods. Covering tools, methods and how to select which poles are good for different products, this workshop will be hands-on outdoors.

Hot drinks are available but please bring a packed lunch and dress for the weather!

Tools are also available but if you have your own tools that you would rather work with please feel free to bring them along.

The cost of this workshop is £50. Book your place via Eventbrite here.

This workshop is part of the New Leaf project, one of 38 Heritage Lottery Funded community projects in the Foresters' Forest programme. New Leaf is led by Arbour Training in partnership with the Rewild Project.
