How to write in Forest Dialect

Tuesday 12th March, 2019
19:00

Our Forest dialect is a window into the past heritage of the English language and its Anglo-Saxon roots.

Come and hear about the tradition of dialect writing in the Forest of Dean past and present, presented by Dr Michelle Straw of the University of Gloucestershire.

Look at the role of dialect writing in the community and the skilful linguistic observations made by Forest writers. You might even like to try some dialect writing yourself!

This event will be held at Ruardean WI meeting, Ruardean Village Memorial Hall, Ruardean, GL17 9US. The hall is next to the playing field and the doctors.

For more information please contact Ruardean WI Secretary Janette McCutcheon.

Forest Dialect is one of 38 Heritage Lottery Funded projects in the Foresters' Forest partnership programme. Forest Dialect is led by Dr Michelle Straw of the University of Gloucestershire.
