Celebrating Our Forest

Celebrating our Forest with our vibrant musical and literary traditions. Telling the story of our Forest, our villages and our people in books, poetry, art and music.

Celebrate good times!

These eight projects have embraced our creativity and rich cultural heritage of literature, music and art. They encouraged participation from the wider community, and generated a feeling of community spirit. The ‘celebrations’ also helped to tell the stories of the Forest as they were revealed.

Get involved:

  • Learn to play a brass instrument or participate in a choir and perform at Scarr Bandstand
  • Research or write a review about your favourite local author - and share with Reading the Forest
  • Learn traditional skills to grow food in your own back garden
  • Volunteer to help clean up the forest by taking part in Love Your Forest litter picking days
  • Work with the elderly in care homes to help them tell stories about the history and heritage of the Forest
  • Join in with community events and celebrate our Forest’s heritage
